The Wish Swap Movie Review

When Hallmark announced their Loveuary movie line up for February 2025, I was very excited about The Wish Swap. The description sounded just silly enough to be amazing. Two people who share a birthday who accidentally get their birthday wishes swapped after sharing a cake together? Wild! So if you’re looking for a new and adorable movie to watch this month keep reading for my full The Wish Swap movie review.

What is The Wish Swap on Hallmark Channel About?

When Casey and Henry celebrate their birthdays at the same restaurant, they make birthday wishes at the same time, which are granted. However, they end up getting each other’s wishes. Starring Emily Tennant and Jake Foy.

The Main Couple

I loved Casey and Henry, who were played by Emily Tennant and Jake Foy.

I haven’t seen them in anything before, so they were new to me. But I loved their characters individually. And I loved them even more together.

Something I Appreciated About this Movie

My favorite kind of Hallmark romance is when the main characters really have time to get to know each other. And that’s exactly what happened in The Wish Swap!

After Casey realizes that her and Henry’s wishes were swapped, she manages to track him down and they come to an agreement to help each other. At first, they try to switch back. But that doesn’t work. It kind of reminds me of the scene in Freaky Friday (my favorite disney movie) where they try to switch back with the fortune cookies! Lol.

But when it doesn’t work, Casey manages to convince Henry that they can really help each other. She’ll be his dance partner on Dance Your Heart Out, the show that he gets invited to participate in. Which has always been her dream And he’ll help her run her great aunt’s farm, which she inherited after her aunt passed. And if you haven’t already guessed, he’s a local farm manager who has always dreamed of running his own property.

I liked that they had weeks to get to know each other, as they helped each other achieve their dreams. It was really sweet and made for a very satisfying ending.

The Side Characters

A romantic movie is nothing without it’s side characters! I really enjoyed Casey’s bestie and Henry’s family. When Henry agrees to help Casey run her great aunt’s farm, he brings along two of his employee’s from his current farming job. One of them is actually his niece.

I thought they were very cute and it was nice how they could give Henry the Gen Z perspective on his romantic woes. Lol.

Who Would I Recommend This Movie For?

  • Hallmark fans
  • People who love slow burn romance.
  • Fans of dance shows (like Dancing with the Stars)
  • Opposites Attract type romances
  • Farm life! And cute farm animals.
