The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook by Harper Graham
It’s that time of year again. The sun is starting to set earlier, and I’m dreaming about cool fall days and cozy sweaters. We’re not quite there yet, so reading about Fall will have to suffice. That’s why I was excited to listen to an audiobook version of The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook by Harper Graham.
It’s a very cute story about two friends/co workers who must team up to help save the Maple Falls book shop after Meg decides to sell it. And I’m glad they do! I mean, can you imagine an organic grocery store in a cute little town like Maple Falls? That’s just crazy talk. Haha.

What is The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook by Harper Graham About?
Robyn’s totally committed to her job teaching literature at Yale. Her recent heartbreak led her to escape to a small-town bookstore. But it’s only temporary, no matter how much she obsesses over its cozy nook for indulging in books and pumpkin pie… Or Tyler, its dark-haired, smouldering-eyed bookseller with an adorable little girl. NOTHING could keep her from going back to her dream career… right?
Tyler can’t help catching feelings for the cute professor hiding behind big glasses and a secretly steamy book. But watching his daughter Emma, with her pigtails and a serious llama obsession, grow attached to Robyn is a problem he didn’t see coming. Because Robyn is gorgeous, ambitious… and absolutely leaving town. Tyler can’t risk Emma’s heart getting broken, never mind his own…
But the sparks between them become impossible to resist. With Robyn’s return to Yale getting closer and Tyler falling more for her every day, can they walk away from their biggest love story yet? (from Amazon.com)
My Initial Thoughts
I was really excited to read this book because I read The Hot Honey Hideaway earlier this Summer. That book is about a young woman named Krista, and her sister Robyn was introduced at the end of the book. So I was really looking forward to learning more about Robyn in The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook.
While I do think that these books follow a little bit of a formula, the author makes it work. She’s created a really cute small town setting with lots of different characters and activities going on. I enjoy that, so I’m looking forward to catching up on the rest of the series sometime soon.
What Did I Enjoy?
I liked Robyn and her backstory. She’s an overachiever because she overcompensated in trying to be the good girl after her sister Krista moved out after high school. I think it’s fun that Robyn is a Yale Professor, but she also enjoys reading and writing romance on the side. A girl’s gotta have hobbies, you know?
Tyler was a very cute male main character. He’s almost too perfect in a way. Haha. I was like, do men like him really exist? But I liked that he was a very caring Dad to Emma. He has a lot of interesting hobbies like reading and gardening and book club. Plus he also has a career in publishing somehow so he is very busy.
I love romance novels where one character is a single parent because it’s cute to see how they take care of their kid. I liked how Tyler was very sensitive to introducing Emma to Robyn. And it made my heart grow like, 5 sizes, when Emma and Robyn started bonding. lol.
What Could Have Been Better?
When the story begins, we’re introduced to Tyler and Robyn working at the bookstore together. And it’s clear that they are already friends who have crushes on each other. But I wish we could have seen that develop more. Because without explanation it’s like, ok… But why do they like each other?
There’s also some details in this book that seem highly unrealistic. Haha. Like both Robyn and Tyler having attended college at Harvard at the same time. Or the fact that Tyler has time for two jobs in addition to being a single parent. Or the fact that everyone in town just happens to read the anonymous writing blog where Robyn posts the romance stories that she writes.
It’s not bad, in my opinions. It’s just that as a romance reader who enjoys realistic love stories, I had to suspend my disbelief a little bit. And that’s just me. I’m sure other people are fine with that.
Would I Recommend This Book?
Yes, if you’re looking for a cozy fall romance this will be perfect for you. The story takes place during Autumn and has so many mentions of Fall and Autumn activities. It also has a fun mystery subplot that has the Maple Falls book club running all over town to find clues. This was the perfect book for me to read (I mean, listen to) while impatiently waiting for Autumn.
As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t read the first couple of books in the series yet. So I’m hoping to add those to my upcoming TBR list so that I can catch up on all the backstory before the next release. Apparently The Sugar and Spice Kitchen releases in October already so there’s not much time.
In Conclusion
Thank you so much for checking out today’s book review of The Pumpkin Pie Book Nook by Harper Graham. It was super fun to listen to this audiobook on my walks this week. I was really engrossed in the story and so the miles just flew by! Lol.
Thank you again to Netgalley and Bookouture for the Advanced Listeners Copy. I can’t wait to see what Harper Graham has in store for Maple Falls next.
