9 Paranormal Cozy Mysteries to Read in Kindle Unlimited
I’ve been doing some research on paranormal cozy mystery series because I love to read witch-y and magical books in the Fall. There’s just something fun about curling up at night with a cup of hot chocolate (I love all kinds, although this one is my fave) and a paranormal cozy on my kindle.
In today’s blog post I’m going to be sharing 5 paranormal cozy mystery series to read in kindle unlimited, because if you’re a member of KU there’s all kinds of fun series to discover each and every day.
The Great Witches Baking Show by Nancy Warren
I have this one waiting for me in my kindle app right now, and I can’t wait to dive in come October! In The Great Witches Baking Show by Nancy Warren, a witch named Poppy Wilkinson is chosen to be on The Great British Baking Contest. Although she’s an American, she has English roots and is thrilled to be a part of the contest and have a chance at winning the prize.
But like all reality TV shows, there’s a bit of drama between the contestants. And the judges! When one of the contestants turns up dead everyone is a suspect, and Broomewode Hall is under suspicion as well. Poppy has her hands full with not only the contest, but working with her new friends to figure out what is going on.
I just think this sounds so cute! It appears that there are nine books and that the 9th book takes place during the season finalize of the baking show. I love the combination of magic + baking + reality tv. This one sounds right up my alley!
Poison & Potato Salad by Amity Allen
This is the first book in the Poppy Parker series by Amity Allen. Poppy seems to be a very popular name for cozy mystery heroines, doesn’t it? Anyway, Poppy Parker has a very unique backstory. She was an actress on a popular TV show about a witch detective, but she’s also a witch in real life.
After her show is cancelled she goes home to get back to real life and figure out her own supernatural capabilities. She’s invited to be a judge in a local beauty competition. But when someone involved with the pageant is murdered, she has to use her detective skills (the ones she learned on tv lol) to find out the truth and clear her best friends name.
Accidental Magic by Iris Beaglehole
Accidental Magic is book one of the Myrtlewood Mysteries series by Iris Beaglehole. It’s the story of Rosemary Thorn and her daughter Athena. They move back to Myrtlewood after Granny Thorn dies mysteriously. The description is a little mysterious in and of itself, but I think this story sounds really good. I love a story about a witchy family. Haha. It makes me think of Sabrina and her aunts Hilda and Zelda!
It also features a haunted family home which sounds delightfully spooky.
Witchin’ USA by Amanda M Lee
This is book one of The Moonstone Bay Cozy Mystery Series. Hadley Hunter lives a pretty typical life until she inherits a lighthouse after her grandmother passes away. She moves there looking for adventure, and she certainly finds it. The townspeople pique her interest and magical things seem to be happening around Moonstone Bay.
But then a body washes up on shore. I’m not quite sure how Hadley gets involved with the murder investigation, but it’s certainly a good set up for book one in a new series. I think the structure of this story sounds interesting… almost like a TV episode. I’m looking forward to checking this one out. There are 13 books so far and all of them are available in Kindle Unlimited.
Grave Mistake by Christine Pope
Selena Marx is a hedgewitch who is fairly comfortable with her life in Los Angeles, using her magic to help residents in the area. Her only problem is staying away from Lucien Dumond, who is the leader of the Greater Los Angeles Necromancers’ Guild. Selena could care less and doesn’t want to bow down to him like the rest of his followers.
But as it turns out, turning him down comes with consequences. When he threatens her, Selena relocates to a new town and begins getting to know her neighbors, including the chief of police. But when Lucien disappears, the chief of police sees Selena as his prime suspect.
This book sounds so interesting! I can’t wait to check it out and find out more
I Dream of Witches by Sara Bourgeois
First of all, how adorable is this cover? lol. Anyway, Daphne Alcott has just come home from Havenwood Academy for Brilliant Young Witches and is reuniting with her family and friends. Her gradmother is excited to have her come work at the family bookstore and Daphne’s brother is happy to have her home as well.
Daphne and her familiar, Dolly, are taking pictures down by the lake one day when they find a drowned body. Daphne can’t believe her luck. She’s only been home for a few days and already she gets wrapped up in dome drama!
This series just sounds so cozy!
Pretty Little Fliers by Erin Johnson
Jolene is a pretend pet psychic, but really she’s a shifter with magical abilities. But she’s barely making ends meet. When she’s offered a job getting the testimony of a parakeet who witnessed a crime, of course she says yes. But as she works with a police officer and his partner german shepherd and the mystery becomes more convoluted, she’s in for more than she bargained for.
This is a completed cozy mystery series so you can read all the books now. To me, it sounds very intriguing!
Kitty Vs. Killer by Corrine Winters
Kitty vs. Killer is book one in the Sassy Witch Cozy Mystery series. In this story Tessa St. James must use her skills as a medium to help her track down her sister’s killer. But along the way she and her friends get sucked into solving other cases as well. And they manage to take on a feline sidekick, a talking cat named Ginger.
Homicide at the Haunted House by Beth Dolgner
Olivia Kendrick is really going through it. She’s divorced, broke, and she lives in the town of Nightmare Arizona. Sounds kind of scary, doesn’t it? She desperately needs a job and so she starts working at an all year haunted house. But when she finds a body, it’s up to her to figure out what’s truly going on.
Olivia is immediately a suspect. She’s new to town AND she found the body. Nobody knows her enough to trust her, so she must start investigating in order to clear her name and find out who the real killer is.
Although I’m a huge fan of the cozy mysteries genre, I haven’t read many paranormal cozies yet! the fact that all of these are available in Kindle Unlimited mean they’re a perfect way for me to introduce myself to the genre.
