Death Overdue by Allison Brook

Death Overdue is book #1 in The Haunted Library Mysteries series. The spooky vibes in the library make for a cozy autumn read.

Main character Carrie Singleton is feeling over her small town of Clover Ridge, Connecticut. But then she’s offered a job as the head of programs and events at the local library. Its known for it’s spooky vibes and even has a librarian ghost. But when things don’t go according to plan at her first library event and someone dies on her watch, Carrie is left with a big mess to clean up. It’s up to her to investigate into the death because she feels it might be connected to the death of a librarian who died years ago.

As I mentioned earlier, this is book 1 in the series so it’s the perfect place to start if you’re looking for a cozy book series to try out.

Pumpkins in Paradise by Kathi Daley

Pumpkins in Paradise is book #1 in the TJ Jensen mystery series. The main character in this series is TJ Jensen, a high school teacher who also coaches the girls soccer team. This Fall she’s especially busy participating in local activities, like the annual pumpkin festival and the chili cook off. But when a friend of hers is found dead, she takes it upon herself to look at their death a little closer. She has to, considering that the new deputy has closed the case without asking the important questions.

Back to School Murder by Leslie Meier

In Back to School Murder, main character Lucy Stone is busy juggling her family life and a part time job at the local newspaper, The Pennysaver. Imagine her surprise when she’s listening to the radio at work one day and find out that there’s a bomb threat at the local elementary school. Her second youngest daughter is a student there so she rushes over to find out what’s going on.

All the kids get out in time, with the help of the new Vice Principal. But when the Vice Principal is found dead a few days later, Lucy realizes that maybe the bomb was actually meant to hurt Carol.

This book is perfect to read in September as all of the kids go back to school!

Town in a Pumpkin Bash by B.B. Haywood

Town in a Pumpkin Bash is about the small town of Cape Willington who is preparing for their annual autumn festival. Candy Holliday is in charge of leading the haunted hayrides, but she unfortunately finds a dead body near some fake headstones. You know the kind… the silly Halloween decorations. But as Candy tries to get to the bottom of things, she may uncover some town secrets. Eep! I don’t know about you, but an autumn festival sounds perfect for some Fall cozy mystery reading.

The Cider Shop Rules by Julie Anne Lindsey

Fall Festivals are such an important part of seasonal cozy mysteries and I love it. In The Cider Shop Rules by Julie Anne Lindsey, Blossom Valley is getting ready for their Fall Festival. Our main character Winona is shocked when she is implicated in the murder of a local townsperson. She must work to clear her name and find the true murderer without disrupting the town’s festivities.

A Pairing to Die For by Kate Lansing

A Pairing to Die for is about Parker Valentine, a winemaker from Boulder, Co. She’s still getting used to her job and her relationship, when her boyfriend Reid’s family decides to come to town. Not only that, but they are “estranged” family members.

Sounds like a lot of drama to me! Reid is a chef which automatically makes him a busy guy, so I’m sure he doesn’t have time to be fighting with family. But when someone close to Reid is killed, Parker must work to help clear her boyfriends name.

A Roux of Revenge by Connie Archer

This is book #3 of the Soup Lover’s Mystery series. And what’s cozier for the autumn season than soup?

Lucky Jamieson is the owner of By The Spoonful, a soup shop located in Snowflake Vermont. The Fall is a busy time of year for her and this year is no exception. There are plenty of visitor’s in town to celebrate at the Harvest Festival. But with new people come new suspicions. When a dead body is found in a van by the side of the road, Lucky must work with the people around town to find out who he was, and why he was killed.

Fall for Murder by Kathleen Suzette

This is book 4 in the freshly baked cozy mystery series. Our main character Allie finds a dead body, and apparently this isn’t the first time. The chief of policy isn’t so sure of her innocence. She must work with her husband Sam to prove that she is innocent. I’m looking forward to reading about the fall elements in this story.

Of Spice and Men by Sarah Fox

Of Spice and Men is book #3 in the Pancake House Mystery Series. The whole town is abuzz when a Hollywood film crew arrive to remake an old horror film. Marley McKinney doesn’t think much of it. She’s busy with her restaurant, The Flip Side Pancake House. It doesn’t phase her that the star of the movie just happens to be an old flame of her boyfriend’s.

Marley gets along well with the film crew and is happy to provide food to them. She even makes friends with Christine, the head makeup artist. But when Marley goes to visit the film set for a tour, the premises quickly becomes the scene of a crime… and a murder mystery. The actors on set have secrets and it’s up to amateur sleuth Marley McKinney to find out who is being truthful, and who has something to hide.

Cutie Pies and Deadly Lies by Addison Moore

This is the first book in the Murder in the Mix series by Addison Moore. And this book has a paranormal aspect that is perfect for fall season reading.

Lottie Lemon has a special gift. She can see dead people (and more often than not, animals). But she’s found that when she sees the animals, it’s often a sign of what is to come for their former owner. So when she sees her landlord’s cat hanging around, she knows something bad is about to happen.

But Lottie has a lot to deal with, not only the suspicious circumstances of her landlord’s death. If you’re looking for a new series to start this spooky season, this one has humor and mystery.

Truly, Madly, Sheeply by Heather Vogel Frederick

In this story that takes place in New England, Truly is preparing for the annual fall fest. Her Aunt True has recently bought a new property with her husband, and someone(s) around town are trying to scare her out of it. Truly must work with the Private eyes Investigators to figure out wha tis going on in town and help set things straight.

Wicked Harvest by Karen MacInerny

If Fall Fests are a great setting for a cozy then this book will raise you one. Wicket Harvest takes place during Oktoberfest! Main character Lucy Resnick is enjoying the festivities, when one of the local brewery owners turns up dead. The sheriff decides on a culptrit, but Lucy isn’t so sure. She must use her skills as a former investigative reporter to figure out who the real murderer is.

A Waffle Lot of Murder by Lena Gregory

This is book 4 in the All Day Breakfast Cafe series (yum!). Main character Gia is new to Florida, and she misses the Fall feeling from New York, like changing leaves and cool breeze. In order to create new Fall memories, she decides to help out at the Haunted Town Festival, but is in for more than she bargained for when she stumbles upon a dead body at the event.

A Killer Crop by Sheila Connolly

Meg Corey is an orchard owner in a sticky situation. An English profession (and old friend of her mother’s) is found dead in her cider house. Is it possibly that her mom is the one who committed the crime? With her Mom as the prime suspect, Meg is going to have to start sleuthing to find out what really happened.

Foul Play at the Fair by Shelley Freydont

Celebration Bay, New York is a town that just keeps getting more and more attention. That’s to be expected when you’re known for your seasonal festivals. Liv Montgomery moves to town from Manhattan to become the new professional event coordinator for the town, and help keep things organized. The Harvest at the Bay Festival is something she’s been eagerly anticipating. Or at least she was looking forward to it until the body of an itinerant juggler is discovered stuffed into an antique apple press.

The town takes things seriously. They can’t keep putting on festivals while there’s a murderer on the loose. It’s up to Liv to figure out who the real killer is so that she can get back to her job.

Ghastly Glass by Joyce Lavene

A Renaissance Faire Mystery seems like perfect fall reading, doesn’t it?

At her glass-blowing apprenticeship, main character Jessie Morton’s crabby boss and his creepy nephew are causing her problems. But when the man playing the Grim Reaper at the faire is killed, Jess has to start asking around in hopes of solving the murder case.

Murder in the Corn Maze by G.A. McKevett

Iris Hart is volunteering Hearthfield Valley’s annual Corn Maze Festival, which is something their cozy little town looks forward to every year. But when she finds a dead man in the middle of the corn field, she realized that she’l have to figure out who did it. Otherwise she’ll be a lead suspect.

Broomsticks and Board Games by Amy McNulty

Dahlia Poplar is a witch living in the town of Luna Lane. While many people come and go, Dahlia is unable to leave town because she’s cursed. In this story, Dahlia reestablishes a game club in town. But there are quite a few untimely deaths connected to the game club and so as she learns more, she also must work to prevent more deaths from happening. Oh, and she also has to fight off her curse as well as use a little bit of magic to help the other people in her life.

This mystery is filled with magic, supernatural beings, and plenty of cozy vibes.

Death by Pumpkin Spice by Alex Erickson

Death by Pumpkin Spice is the 3rd book in the Bookstore Cafe Mystery series by Alex Erickson. This is a bit of a Halloween book, which means it has the perfect fall vibes for seasonal reading.

Bookstore café owner Krissy Hancock would rather keep things lowkey for Halloween. But instead, she’s invited to a Halloween Party. I know that sounds like a perfect time, but it’s an uppity party at a mansion, so she doesn’t really feel at home. When a woman is found strangled and jewelry is found missing from the owner of the house, things are not looking good. It’s never a good sign when multiple crimes take place.

The entire estate goes on lockdown and Krissy has to help the police officer figure out who did it. And why?
