Hello readers! I’m back today with a book review that’s perfect for Fall, and sure to warm your heart. The whole time I was reading, I couldn’t help but think that this would make a great plot of a Hallmark movie. In today’s blog post, I’ll be sharing my book review of Autumn at the Cat Cafe by Kathleen Fuller.

What is Autumn at the Cat Cafe About?
Via Dalton has sworn off men to focus on the two things she loves most: her quirky cat café, Pawsitive Vibes, and the charming town of Pecan Corner, Ohio. But her peaceful world is shaken when Earl Brewster, the owner of the beloved Second Chapter Books next door, passes away. Via is determined to buy the shop and preserve Earl’s legacy, but her plans hit a snag in the form of a tall, handsome, and completely unexpected heir.
Leo Brewster’s life is thriving in LA, and the last thing he needs is an inheritance in the middle-of-nowhere, Ohio. But the alternative–letting his estranged mother inherit–has him packing his bags to receive the inheritance, quickly sell it off to the highest bidder, and hightail it back to LA. What Were My Initial Thoughts?
I have to be honest. I’m not a cat person. So all of the cat cuteness in this book was lost on me. The book opens with Via walking her cat on a leash and I was very confused. I didn’t realize anybody actually did that.
But once the story got going, I found it to be very cute. I love reading about small business owners and so learning all about Pawsitive Vibes was very interesting. We have a cat cafe in the town that I grew up in, and now I’m convinced that I need to go visit!
Enemies to Lovers
I found the tension between Via and Leo to be very cute. They are such complete opposites. As a city guy, he really warms up quickly to small town life though. I think the author did a good job of pacing this story so that the friendship between the two developed very naturally.
Via is very closed off in the beginning of the book. She was so content to just work at her cafe and hang out with her cat, Sir. But she slowly opened up throughout the story. She and Leo experienced a lot of different situations together. It made me smile how little by little, they realized that maybe they weren’t so different after all!
The Fall Vibes were Vibing
Something fun about this story is that it takes place during Fall. Via has a Fall bucket list that she participates in every year, and this year she invites Leo to tag along. It’s a great way for him to get involved and get to know the town.
I think that’s why this book felt like it would make a great Hallmark movie! I can just see it now. The small town, the cats, and the Fall activities. What’s not to love?
I’m writing this book review in the middle of sweater, but now I just want to put on a cozy sweatshirt and make myself a cup of hot chocolate. Can you relate? Lol.
Would I Recommend This Book?
Yes. I thought this was a cute romance. I wasn’t sure how the two of the main characters would figure each other out, but like all good things, it took time. The different fall activities that they participated in were really fun. And I enjoyed how Via’s family was such a great support system for her. I enjoyed reading about their Sunday lunches.
In Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed today’s book review of Autumn at the Cat Cafe by Kathleen Fuller. This is the first “Fall” themed book that I’ve read this season (even though it’s still summer as I type this). It definitely got me in the mood for pumpkin patches and sweater weather. In fact, there’s a ghost tour coming up in the small town that I work in and I think I’m going to sign up to attend.
