Almost Ruined by Abby Millsaps | Men of Evercrisp Orchard
Hi everyone! I’m back today to talk about Almost Ruined by Abby Millsaps. This is the third and final book in the Men of Evercrisp Orchard series. I had binged the first book and the second book in January. So I was highly anticipating this third book in the series.
I had some opinions about the characters that actually wound up changing as this story progressed. I think author Abby Millsaps did a really good job of wrapping up the series and writing a satisfyin ending for the characters.

What is Almost Ruined by Abby Millsaps about?
Mutual destruction makes way for hope and healing in Almost Ruined, the third and final book in the new dark, why choose, college hockey romance series from bestselling author Abby Millsaps.
I told Mercer I’d never forgive him, and I meant every word of that promise.
He hurt Tytus in the most awful, deleterious way while Noah just stood by and let it happen.
All three men in my life have contributed to the toxic, unnecessary agony of our collective heartache, but I’m the one who brought them together. This is all my fault. Everything is ruined, and I have no one to blame but myself.
I almost captured that once-in-a-lifetime kind of love, and I was lucky enough to experience it three times over. But almost has never been enough.
I’ll miss Mercer’s bold, dominant attentiveness just as much as I’ll yearn for Noah’s sweet, gentle brand of care. I’ll spend the rest of my life craving Ty’s intense possessiveness.
It all ends now.
I refuse to choose between them, so I’m opting out entirely. I’d rather break my own heart and mourn the loss of them for the rest of my life than let them hurt each other ever again. (from Amazon.com)
My Initial Thoughts
At the end of book 2, I had varying opinions about Sawyer’s three men.
I liked Mercer Eden, but felt conflicted about the incident that occurred and the end of the books. I loved Noah Henry because he’s a total sweetheart who just wants to see the people he loves happy. And Tytus Tremblay? He was a brooding hockey player who was trying to control Sawyer. I wasn’t crazy about him.
But over the course of Almost Ruined, I really felt like we got to know the characters better. I started to understand them better and I changed my mind about Tytus. So I liked that. But there were also a lot of scenes in this dark college hockey trilogy that made me uncomfortable.
So let’s get into it!
There’s a lot of Questionable Shit in this Book
I’m a feminist and a realistic reader. I’m not easily triggered, so I look at dark romance with a critical eye. I don’t like dubious consent. I don’t like a lot of the stuff that trigger warnings pertain to. I’m not necessarily going to hate a book if it contains those elements, but I will question it.
And there’s a lot that goes on during this book that I questioned. I understand that Sawyer was upset after her triple break up, but it felt like the whole party/pickup truck scenes were completely innapropriate. There’s so much gray area with the alcohol and drug use. But when it comes down to it, Mercer and Noah are grown men. Tytus and Sawyer are int their early twenties. Their brains aren’t fully formed yet. And it just felt icky.
I read a lot of goodreads reviews when I was trying to form my own thoughts, and I think a lot of readers felt the same way.
After those scenes where everyone was sober and in the right mindset to make decisions, I enjoyed the story. But until then I was not really into it.
Would I Recommend This Series?
It depends. I enjoyed it and I’m glad I read it. I would re-read it in a couple of years. But it’s not going to be for everyone, so PLEASE read the trigger warnings first. Author Abby Millsaps includes them in the front of each of her books.
If you like dark romance and why choose romance novels, I would recommend it. Abby created a really fascinating world with a group of interesting and unique characters. It can be sad sometimes as the characters work through their trauma, but the ending was very satisfying.
In Conclusion
Thank you for checking out my review of Almost Ruined by Abby Millsaps. This was an interesting book and a good end to the series. I think this is a series of books that I will enjoy reading again in a few years.
