Almost Rotten by Abby Millsaps | Men of Evercrisp Orchard

Well friends, I’m back today to talk about Almost Rotten by Abby Millsaps. I shared my thoughts on Almost Ravaged last week and promised that I would come back to share my review of the second book in the trilogy. And to be honest, I’m not super thrilled to be here. And that reason is star hockey defenseman Tytus Tremblay, Sawyer’s long-time friend and maybe new enemy.

I think we’re supposed to like him and find his actions forgivable, but that’s gonna be a no from me dawg. Not gonna happen. This guy might be in deep psychosis, to be honest.

But anyway, let’s get on with the review! This is a rollercoaster of a book and I have a lot of opinions to share.

And if you like dark romance books, you can find more of my dark romance book reviews here.

What is Almost Rotten by Abby Millsaps About?

He called me his wife.

My brother’s best friend and star hockey defenseman Tytus Tremblay stood in front of the Dean, declared we’re married, and bullied the man into bending to his will.

To Ty’s credit, it worked. My job is safe. The Dean has no idea who else was in the video with me.

But as the reality of the situation sinks in, I realize just how instrumental Tytus was in orchestrating this nightmare.

He’s delusional.

Tytus and I aren’t married, even though I used to dream about a future with him. That was before I met Mercer and Noah and allowed myself to fall for two older men.

Embarrassingly, when we’re locked away in my dorm, I give in to Ty’s delusions. I can’t help but push the limits, catapulting us toward his fantasies.

Now I’m torn between three men, so agonizingly confused I feel myself starting to slip away.

When Ty casually calls me his wife in front of his professional hockey team, I break.

I can’t go on like this. I can’t keep playing this game.

Every version of the future I dreamed of is slipping between my fingers. Irrevocable damage has been done, and I’m afraid nothing will ever be the same again.

My Initial Thoughts:

Tytus’s desperate attempts at trying to control Sawyer have been really sad up to this point. So his stunt at the end of book 1 and into book 2 is just not a good look. It ws one of the most shocking cliffhangers that I’ve read in a while, and I found the whole think icky. It made me mad how Sawyer clearly agreed and yet fell for Tytus’s tricks in the end.

Gross. I don’t know what author Abby Millsaps was thinking.

I understand that after what happened to them when they were teenagers (you’ll have to read book 1 for more details on that) that the two of them are incredibly bonded. How could you not have an unbreakable bond with the keeper of your darkest secret? But it did disappoint me that Tytus put Sawyer through so much emotional turmoil and still got to reap the benefits of it.

I Just Feel Really Conflicted

I feel like the author wants us to forgive Tytus because he did what he did out of love. He was just so desperate for Sawyer’s attention and love that in his own twisted way, he was trying to show her that.

But no. This is a spoiler and I’m not going to elaborate, but revenge porn is not a mistake. It’s a calculated, cruel, and illegal act. I don’t care that he has trauma. It’s a life-altering choice that he made that could have ruined Sawyer’s educational future and his career. There is no forgiveness for that. I’m not going to applaud him for showing up at the dean’s office and trying to fix things when he’s the one that cause all of the trouble in the first place.

I’m Still Obsesssed with Mercer and Noah

Remember how in New Moon Bella was really depressed because Edward was gone and she was sad and broody for months? That’s kind of how Almost Rotten is. Lol. Sawyer Davvies finds herself in the impossible position of trying to satisfy Tytus but she misses her boys. And she can’t spend more time with them without potentially breaking everyone’s hearts.

It’s so sad! But it also made for some very tender and sweet moments between the trio. And it almost made me forget how much I hated Tytus. Lol.

The Nicknames are Kind of Adorable

Bee Daddy? Little Nuisance? I’ll leave it at that.

What Do I Hope for Ty in Book 3?

I hope he apologizes to Sawyer. I hope he goes on his own emotional journey by signing up for therapy on campus. Actually, you know what? Maybe Sawyer, Atty, and Tytus can all go to family therapy. I love their little family unit but they collectively have a lot of stuff to work through. It’s safe to say they have been through a rollercoaster of emotions during the past few years.

What Do I Hope for Sawyer in Book 3?

I’m not sure yet. At the end of book 2, there was a lot of drama going on. I understand why she was upset with Mercer and Noah. But I also understand where the two of them were coming from. Ty’s leverage was too much and they had to get ride of it in order to protect their girl.

After the cliffhanger of the first book, I knew that we were going to be left with questions at the end of Almost Rotten. I just wasn’t prepared for how torn up I would be. Ty’s story is a sad one and I do feel bad that he had to come face to face with some of his traumas unexpectedly.

In Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on Almost Rotten by Abby Millsaps. This is a rollercoaster of a book with so many emotions.

As I mentioned earlier, this is part of the Men of Evercrisp Orchard Series. This is book #2. The third and finally book in the trilogy will be out in February and I can’t wait! I’m sure that as readers we will be in for a wild ride. My hope is that everyone will work on their own past issues and we’ll have a happy ending.

Is that too much to ask for? Probably. 🙂
