Book Review: One Moment Please by Amy Daws
I was on Instagram (or maybe threads) the other week when I saw this book mentioned. The idea sounded so crazy and interesting. A woman goes to the ER for something completely unrelated, and finds out that she’s pregnant. And her baby just happens to be the hot doctor who’s attending to her injuries. I was so excited when I saw that One Moment Please by Amy Daws was available to read in Kindle Unlimited.
It’s a story that captivated me because of the plot, but I also immediately fell in love with the characters. Lynsey is so funny. The scene where she and Josh meets is so funny because of her big reactions (which she is in the right to have, considering how rude he is).
And Josh… well, I had to laugh at how rude he was. It was clearly a coping mechanism. But for what? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out.

My First Thoughts
I knew that I was going to love this book from chapter 1. The scene where Lynsey and Josh met was so hysterically funny. When she stormed off after stuffing pie in her face I was like, ok… There’s got to be some point where he redeems himself.
But no. They meet again at a bar and it’s still annoyance at first sight. But the banter between them was so good. But with feisty banter comes lots of feelings. And when the two of them get carried away at the end of the night, it leads to some big life changes.
I was in the mood for a book with a surprise pregnancy trope, and this was so good. I really enjoyed it from front cover until back cover.
The Sexual Tension was Crazy
From the very first moment that they met in the hospital cafeteria, the sexual tension was crazy. Amy Daws really did a great job writing the enemies to lovers trope. Because even after Lynsey and Josh found each other again three months after their first encounter, they still did not like each other. The snarky comments really made me smile. It was easy to tell that the disgust they had in each other wasn’t real. Or at least that’s what I was hoping as I read further into the book!
One Moment Please is Book 3 in the Series
I didn’t realize that this is actually the 3rd book in the Wait With Me Series by Amy Daws. I definitely want to go back and read the first two books in the series because I loved the side characters in One Moment Please. Lynsey’s best friend’s name is Kate, and she’s actually the female lead in book 1.
I also really liked Lynsey’s friend Dean (although he’s a bit of a troublemaker tbh) and I think he’s the male lead in book 4. So that is also one that I’m looking forward to reading.
Who you Choose To Spend Your Time With is EVERYTHING
Lynsey’s parents aren’t super accepting in this book, and that feels pretty realistic. I think millenials/gen z are more likely these days to put space between them and family members who make them uncomfortable. I enjoyed how Lynsey spent a lot of time with her friends Kate and Dean. Plus there was the rest of their friend group as well.
Plus, she seemed very close with her sister and her nieces. The scene where Lynsey and Josh babysit her nieces last minute was also a heartwarming moment, in my opinion.
My Only Critique
Is that I would have liked an epilogue or something where Lynsey, Josh, and his parents were all having a family get together with the baby. I thought it was so sweet how excited his Mom was to find out about Lynsey and the baby. It melted my heart in a way, because to her, it was a sign that her son might be healing from his past.
I know, I know. That’s just wishful thinking. Haha. But I think that would have been nice.
In Conclusion
