What is the Background of this Book?

If you pick up this book, you’re probably a fan of The Rockettes. But if you aren’t, there is a little bit of background information in the front of the book. They discuss some of the history behind Radio City Music Hall (which is where they perform), as well as share some photos.

This feels really nostalgic for me, because I went to see the Rockettes for their Christmas performance when I was a kid. My Mom and my Grandmother took my brother and I on a bus trip when we were younger. We got to explore NYC a little bit and see The Rockettes. It was a very magical experience.

This book also takes you behind the scenes of The Rockettes and explains some of their history as America’s longest-running precision dance company. These women are incredibly talented and so I really enjoyed getting a to see behind the curtain!

Fun Fact: I learned that every Fall, more than 80 Rockettes come together in NYC to start putting together their Christmas program. Their rehearsals last for six weeks, where they practice for six hours a day, six days a week. I can’t even imagine how tired they must be by their days off!

How is the Book Set Up?

For the first two sections, they discuss the history of Radio City Music Hall as well as some history of The Rockettes. In High Kicks and High Style, they take us behind the scenes of some of the iconic Rockettes costumes through the years. I really enjoyed this part because I love their costumes. My Mom and I always look forward to getting a sneak peak of The Rockettes during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

There are a lot of different things I want to try from this book! Here are my top 5, in case you’re interested:

• Thanksgiving Morning Cinammon Rolls (As I mentioned, I love to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and this would be the perfect breakfast)
• Pizza Bites (My family always celebrates with appetizers on Christmas Eve, and this would be a great additional to our menu)
• Santa Claus Charcuterie Board (I feel like charcuteries does not need an explanation lol)
• Santa’s Espresso Martini (Yes Please)
• Snow Kissed Chocolate Shortbread Cookies (Combines two of my favorite things)

Was I Able to Try Out Any of the Recipes/Crafts Yet?

Not yet! I’m waiting until closer to the holiday season to try out the recipes! But I do have some plans to try out some of the recipes at home, as well as the crafts for my cubicle at work. We also decorate for the Christmas season in my office, and it’s lots of fun.

Who is this Book For?

I think that readers of all age can find something to enjoy about this book. I also think that it would be fun for parents to try out some of these recipes with their kids! I love baking and cooking during the holiday season, so it’s fun to think about people participating in those activities together.
