Book Review: Safari Murder Party by Rachel Moore
I was given a review copy of Safari Murder Party a while ago, but I haven’t had the chance to read it until now. I wanted something fun to read and assumed that this was going to be a murder mystery that takes place on a safari vacation. But I was so wrong. So very wrong. Haha. Safari Murder Party by Rachel Moore is so wild and I’m really glad I finally read it. So keep reading for my full thoughts on this book that is as unpredictable as the wild animals on Lydell Island.

My Initial Thoughts
Safari Murder Party is a dark comedy that kept me guessing. What starts out as an innocent corporate retreat becomes an absolute nightmare for everyone involved. And as I mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, I thought this book was going to go in a completely different direction. Lol. So this was very interesting.
I really liked Fletcher as a main character. I think a lot of readers will relate to her We’ve all had those jobs where we know we’re destined for more, and yet aren’t sure how to get there. She might be just an executive assistant, but it was fun to watch her try her hardest to get what she wanted.
This Book Was Darker Than I Thought
Safari Murder Party sounds like a murder mystery to me. I imagined a bunch of people on a luxury safari trip where the tour guide randomly gets murdered. But no. That’s not what happened. This is a thriller where everyone must fend for themselves. One man’s will becomes a wild competition of killing and doing whatever it takes to be the last one standing.
I really was not expecting that. But after the first few people died I was like “Ok. This is kind of like Squid Games but in the corporate world?”
The Main Plot is Kind of Silly
But in a fun way! It’s not like this kind of book is realistic. It’s definitely not. And that’s ok. Sometimes you just need to read something silly and this book definitely fits the bill. It would actually be a great book to take on your next vacation!
There’s a Romantic Subplot
I know this book is basically about murder, but there’s also a romantic subplot that I found enjoyable. I love the enemies to lovers tripe and so watching Fletcher and Waylong give each other a hard time was very entertaining.
