Ollies Book Haul & Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Shopping Tips

If you’re a book lover and have never been to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, then you’re sleeping on some great deals! Buying books all the time can be an expensive hobby because physical books are expensive. But it doesn’t have to be. When you shop at places like Ollie’s you can find great items at an even better price. In today’s blog post, I’ll be sharing my latest Ollies book haul as well as some bargain hunting tips and tricks.

P.S. If you enjoy book hauls, you can see some more of mine here.

What is Ollie’s Bargain Outlet?

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet is a discount retail chain in the United States, known for offering a wide variety of brand-name products at significantly reduced prices. The store stocks an ever-changing selection of items, including household goods, books, furniture, food and snacks, cleaning supplies, toys, clothing, home décor, electronics, pet products, and seasonal items.

They offer closeout and surplus inventory from manufacturers, making it a go-to destination for shoppers looking for great deals on quality products.

What kind of books does Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Sell?

I can’t tell you exactly what they sell because the inventory is always changing. But at every Ollie’s I have ever been to, the book section is in the front of the store when you walk in. The books are organized into different sections. Some of the sections include:

  • Children’s Books (Perfect for elementary and middle school)
  • Coloring Books
  • Sticker Book
  • Bibles
  • Cookbooks
  • Graphic novels and comics
  • Fiction for young adults
  • Fiction for adults
  • Inspirational Fiction

They have all kinds of genres, but you have to be prepared to look through the different shelves to find the books you might like. They often have multiple copies of the same book but sometimes they can be spread out. Depending on how many shoppers there are things can get spread around if people pick up a book and put it back in a different area.

You may have to search a little but the affordable books are definitely worth it. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something worth reading!

My History with Ollie’s Book Sections

The first time I went to Ollie’s was with my Mom. (If you’re reading this, hi Mom!) We had an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet next to the Mall growing up so my Mom would often take me there for a quick trip if we were out on a shopping day. I always liked to look through the books. I found lots of great things like a Sarah Dessen box set. I also remember going once in college and finding a stationery haul set. I loved looking at all of the pretty cards, envelopes, and letter writing materials.

If you’re looking for a new release you’ll definitely have to go to a book store like Barnes and Noble. But if you’re open to new authors and genres and are looking for something inexpensive, Ollie’s is a great place to look for books. Why pay full price when you don’t have to?

What did I find on my latest Ollies Book Haul?

Oh boy! I was at Ollie’s yesterday and can’t wait to share the name of the books with you. But first, here’s a photo of my Ollies book haul. You never know what you’re going to find in their giant book section. Sometimes it’s romance novels. Other times its thriller books. But what you do know is that you’ll always find good deals.

Endless Summer by Elin Hilderbrand

This is a collection of short stories by Elin Hilderbrand. She’s one of my favorite women’s fiction authors and I always love to take her books to the beach with me. I think I’ll save this one for our next beach trip.

Good Company by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney

I picked this one up because I recognized the author’s name from another book I own, The Nest. After reading the description, it sounds like a complicated story with a whole lot of family drama. I enjoy those kinds of books so can’t wait to check this one out.

First Position by Melanie Hamrick

I’m excited to check out this one because it seems dramatic and it tells the story of a ballet dancer. I loved the movie Center Stage growing up and I’m always interesting in ballet movies and fiction

Our Lady of The Prairie by Thisbe Nissen

This one sounds like a coming of age novel. I remembered the authors name because I read another one of her books a few years ago — The Good People of New York. I really enjoyed Thisbe’s writing style and so I’m sure I will like this one too.

Princess in Love by Meg Cabot

I’m currently in the process of recollecting all of The Princess Diaries books so this one had to come home with me. This was one of my favorite series growing up and I want to recollect them in case I have a daughter or a niece or a neighbor who loves young adult fiction someday. Mia Thermopolis is such an icon and a great role model for young adults.

Girls of Summer by Nancy Thayer

I’ve never read this author before but decided to give her a chance. I love a beach read and this story actually takes place in Nantucket so it’s giving Elin Hildrebrand vibes.

The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella

I haven’t read any of her books in years, but I used to love Sophie Kinsella. She was one of my favorite chick lit authors. So even though I haven’t read her in years, it was a good price. If I don’t like it, I’ll donate it to the little free library down the street.

My Top 5 Tips for Bargain Book Hunting at Ollie’s

1. Keep an Open Mind

As I mentioned before, to have a successful ollie’s haul you need to keep an open mind. The inventory is constantly changing and you never know what you’re going to find. Keep an open mind when it comes to authors and genres and if you don’t see any authors or titles that you recognize, give something new a chance.

2. Don’t Go Overboard

It’s easy to be distracted by the unbeatable prices. But it’s important to remember that you can’t read everything! Try not to go overboard when buying ollie’s books. If you do, you might get overwhelmed by your To Be Read list.

3. Remember to Look at the Price

I haven’t been able to figure out the pricing system at local ollies bargain outlet, but it does seem like hardcovers are more expensive then paperbacks, although everything is still a pretty decent price.

4. They may have the best book deals, but they also have a lot of other things!

Don’t just check out the books. Check out the entire store! They have a lot of great things like rugs, lamps, greeting cards, snacks, kitchen tools, towels, and more. Have I tempted you yet? You probably want to go to your local ollies tonight. Lol. The price range is that good!

5. Check Back Frequently

The inventory at Ollie’s is always changing which means it’s good to check back regularly for new books. I never know what I’ll find. But I enjoy stocking up on new fiction regularly because I almost always find something at my local store. Great finds today may not be around tomorrow, and vice versa.
