June Reading Wrap Up

June was a slower reading month for me so I only have 3 books to discuss in my June Reading Wrap Up. I was pretty busy at the beginning of the month with helping to plan my bestie’s bridal shower and I wasn’t focused on my reading as much.

I guess I could have listened to an audiobook or two, but I go through phases with my audiobook listening.

When August Ends by Penelope Douglas

I picked this book up because I’ve been wanting to read some Older Man/Younger Woman romances, but this one was just okay. I did like the characters, but Heather’s behavior really made her seem a lot younger than 20 years old. Plus Noah is only 34 and he’s single so like, their feelings for each other seemed fine? If they wanted to they could have just dated openly and no one would have cared I bet.

I think the author could have added more to the story to make it more high stakes.

I did really enjoy the ending. Like I said, I did like the characters. It just felt like some of the drama between them was way overblown.

Daddy’s Billionaire Lawyer by Haley Travis

This book was very meh for me. As I mentioned, I wanted to read some forbidden type romances and this one just did not do it for me. It’s about a girl who meets and falls in love with an older man, only to find out that he’s a lawyer who is friends with her father.

My main issue is that in all of his flirting and stuff, he really feels like her father. Lol. The way he always calls her angel really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt very much like a Dad type thing to do which made me less invested in their romance. The writing was fine but I just didn’t enjoy the romance of the story, and that was the whole point.

Summer Rental by Rektok Ross

You can read my full book review here, but I actually really liked this book. I’m not a person who really enjoys scary things. I usually stay away from horror movies. But I felt like this story was just creepy enough to keep me on the edge of my seat, without scaring me too much! It’s about a group of college kids who rent a house in Florida for a Summer vacation.

But when a tropical storm swoops in and leaves them stranded together, they have to deal with the fact that two of their friends are missing and if they don’t get to the bottom of it soon, something might happen to the rest of them as well.

I recommend if you’re looking for a unique thriller that will keep you guessing. The author does a great job of creative diverse and interesting characters.

What did you read in June?
