A Summer Writing Update
Hello Readers! It’s been a while since I’ve updated you on my writing projects. Now that we’re in a new season, I thought it might be fun to write an update for the blog. I’m currently working on next steps for my novel, as well as content creation for the blog, and maybe even a zine project! So without further adieu, here is a Summer writing update.
A Book Update
It’s been a few months since I mentioned my novel, The Christmas Committee. This is a closed door holiday romance novel that I finished the first draft of last December. In March, I had Hannah from English Proper Editing Services perform an Alpha read for me and I got a lot of great feedback.
I’m currently working my way through Hannah’s comments so that I can better develop my story. My goal is to have a second draft finished by August so that I can have my Mom read it (she loves to read and I promised her I would show her my next book). And in September, I’m booked for combined editing with English Proper.
My goal is to have this book completed by the end of the year so that I can self publish it in 2027. I would also like to finish the first draft of the second book in the series, but we’ll see. I am getting married in December so I have a feeling the Fall is going to be quite busy!
A Blog Update
I am having so much fun with my blog right now! My goal is to write interesting and thoughtful book reviews and articles that others will find helpful. My traffic has been down since last year, but it’s slowly going back up. I am using keyword research, Pinterest, and instagram to try and boost my traffic.
As far as what kind of content I post, a lot of it is going to be book reviews. I have a big reading list for this year and a lot of opinions. So the people need to know what I thought of these books. Lol
I also want to start writing more posts on journaling and cozy hobbies. But I’ll share more on that soon.
A Zine Update
It has been so long since I’ve made a zine, and I am feeling inspired.
I have this idea for a new series called Marian’s Library that is all about books. These are some of the ideas that I have for issues:
- Fiction Flashback (favorite books from childhood)
- Summer Reading
- Bookish Hot Takes
- Bookish Lists
And there’s a lot more! But right now I’m developing an outline for my first issue which will be Summer Reading. I don’t want to give too much away, but here’s a sneak peak of the cover.
Cool, right? There’s something so fun about messing around with my paprers and a glue stick.
In Conclusion
So anyway, I hope you enjoyed this a summer writing update. I’m having trouble managing my moods lately (which is maybe something I should address with my doctor… tbd) so writing is keeping me sane. I love to create for this blog and I hope that you enjoy reading these posts.
If you’re still reading, I’d love to hear about if you have any writing or creative projects for the Summer.
