8 Fall Themed Cozy Mysteries to Read This Season
In today’s blog I’m going to be sharing some Fall themed cozy mysteries to read this season.
Part of the reason why I love cozy mysteries it that there are so many niches within the genre. It doesn’t matter what topic, season, or holiday you want to read about. You’re bound to find something in the cozy mystery genre.
As Fall approaches, I’m excited to dive into so cozies that will be perfect for Autumn. In today’s post I’m going to be sharing 8 Fall Themed Cozy Mysteries to Read in the upcoming Fall months.
Back to School Murder by Leslie Meier
In Back to School Murder, main character Lucy Stone is busy juggling her family life and a part time job at the local newspaper, The Pennysaver. Imagine her surprise when she’s listening to the radio at work one day and find out that there’s a bomb threat at the local elementary school. Her second youngest daughter is a student there so she rushes over to find out what’s going on.
All the kids get out in time, with the help of the new Vice Principal. But when the Vice Principal is found dead a few days later, Lucy realizes that maybe the bomb was actually meant to hurt Carol.
This book is perfect to read in September as all of the kids go back to school!
Town in a Pumpkin Bash by B.B. Haywood
Town in a Pumpkin Bash is about the small town of Cape Willington who is preparing for their annual autumn festival. Candy Holliday is in charge of leading the haunted hayrides, but she unfortunately finds a dead body near some fake headstones. You know the kind… the silly Halloween decorations. But as Candy tries to get to the bottom of things, she may uncover some town secrets. Eep! I don’t know about you, but an autumn festival sounds perfect for some Fall cozy mystery reading.
The Cider Shop Rules by Julie Anne Lindsey
Fall Festivals are such an important part of seasonal cozy mysteries and I love it. In The Cider Shop Rules by Julie Anne Lindsey, Blossom Valley is getting ready for their Fall Festival. Our main character Winona is shocked when she is implicated in the murder of a local townsperson. She must work to clear her name and find the true murderer without disrupting the town’s festivities.
Fall for Murder by Kathleen Suzette
This is book 4 in the freshly baked cozy mystery series. Our main character Allie finds a dead body, and apparently this isn’t the first time. The chief of policy isn’t so sure of her innocence. She must work with her husband Sam to prove that she is innocent. I’m looking forward to reading about the fall elements in this story.
Truly, Madly, Sheeply by Heather Vogel Frederick
In this story that takes place in New England, Truly is preparing for the annual fall fest. Her Aunt True has recently bought a new property with her husband, and someone(s) around town are trying to scare her out of it. Truly must work with the Private eyes Investigators to figure out wha tis going on in town and help set things straight.
See? I told you. Fall Festivals are very popular in cozy mysteries!
Wicked Harvest by Karen MacInerny
If Fall Fests are a great setting for a cozy then this book will raise you one. Wicket Harvest takes place during Oktoberfest! Main character Lucy Resnick is enjoying the festivities, when one of the local brewery owners turns up dead. The sheriff decides on a culptrit, but Lucy isn’t so sure. She must use her skills as a former investigative reporter to figure out who the real murderer is.
A Waffle Lot of Murder by Lena Gregory
This is book 4 in the All Day Breakfast Cafe series (yum!). Main character Gia is new to Florida, and she misses the Fall feeling from New York, like changing leaves and cool breeze. In order to create new Fall memories, she decides to help out at the Haunted Town Festival, but is in for more than she bargained for when she stumbles upon a dead body at the event.
Side note: I’m assuming there’s a dog in this story, and I’m obsessed with the dog on the cover. Haha.
A Pairing to Die For by Kate Lansing
A Pairing to Die for is about Parker Valentine, a winemaker from Boulder, Co. She’s still getting used to her job and her relationship, when her boyfriend Reid’s family decides to come to town. Not only that, but they are “estranged” family members.
Sounds like a lot of drama to me! Reid is a chef which automatically makes him a busy guy, so I’m sure he doesn’t have time to be fighting with family. But when someone close to Reid is killed, Parker must work to help clear her boyfriends name.
