5 August Cozy Mystery Releases I Am Looking Forward To

It’s a new month which means that there are plenty of new book releases to be excited about this month. This post specifically will be about my top 5 August Cozy Mystery Releases I am looking Forward To.

As I was doing my usual perusals of Goodreads and Amazon I found a lot of old authors who have new releases as well as some new authors too!

In no specific order, here are my top 5 August cozy mystery releases that I am looking forward to:

Catch me if you Candy by Ellie Alexander

A Bakeshop Mystery #17 | August 22, 2023

Catch Me if you Candy by Ellie Alexander is book #17 in the Bakeshop Mystery Series. Spooky season is here and Ashland, Oregon is getting ready for their annual Halloween parade. Meanwhile, Jules and her team are busy preparing treats for the Trick or Treaters. She’s excited for the festivities and all the great costumes she’s going to see. That is, until she finds a dragon out front of her store, and they definitely aren’t alive.

With different clues coming to light, Jules must protect herself and work to find the killer before it’s too late.

Board to Death by C. J. Connor

Board Game Shop #1 | August 22, 2023

Board to Death is book #1 in the new Board Game Shop mystery series. Ben is in charge of running his family’s board game shop while he takes care of his sick father, and his father’s chihuahua named Beans. It’s a daunting task, but he enjoys flirting with the flower shop owner down the street named Ezra.

But with that being said, he’s having trouble keeping the business afloat. One day a board game collector named Clive comes into his shop to offer him a vintage game for sale. Ben doesn’t trust it though and he turns it down. He’s hesitant about the low priced deal.

When Clive turns up dead outside of Ben’s story, it’s up to him and Ezra to solve the murder and prove Ben’s innocence.

The Veggie Burger Murder by Rosie A Point

A Sleepy Creek Cozy Mystery #5 | August 18, 2023

In The Veggie Burger Murder, Christie (personal investigator) is preparing for a pretty big life change. She and her cat Poirot are moving in with her fiance in Sleepy Creek. But while searching for a new home, they find that their realtor is in a heated turf war with another local realtor. And when the realtor that they were working with turns up dead at an open house, things to not look good to Christie. But the local police has other ideas. They think it was an accident.

It’s up to Christie and her cousin to prove them wrong!

Murder at the Library by Ellen Jacobson

A North Dakota Library Mystery #1 | August 15, 2023

In Murder At the Library we’re introduced to Thea Olson, a library volunteer. But she comes across a dead body on the job! Her brother is the chief of police and so Thea decides to do some investigating on her own so that he isn’t too overwhelmed. She gets help from her grandmother and the new library director. It’s a tough mystery to solve, but she finds some very interesting clues along the way.

Corpse at a Cape Cod Inn by Angela K Ryan

Cape Cod Cozy Mysteries #1 | August 18, 2023

Heather is recovering from a car accident, suffering from memory loss. Her friend arranges for her to get a job at a local inn (and live there) while she is getting back on her feet. On her first day she finds a murder scene, but that doesn’t deter her. Even though she’s having trouble remembering who she is, she jumps right in to do some investigating.

I think all of these books sounds really neat for different reasons! For instance the Bakeshop series is an old favorite, but the new series (Board to Death, Murder at the Library, and Corpse at a Cape Cod Inn) sound so fun and interesting. Are you planning to check out any of these books this month?

I was lucky enough to read an early copy of Board to Death, so I’ll be posting my review very soon.
