Ten 2025 Cozy Mysteries I’m Excited For

At the end of every year, I love looking ahead at what will be releasing next year. It’s so fun to pore over lists of new book releases and admire the beautiful covers and interesting book descriptions. In today’s blog post, I’m going to share ten 2025 cozy mysteries I’m excited for.

There are a lot of great titles in this list, so make sure you grab a pen and paper to take notes.

1. The Busybody Book Club by Freya Sampson

May 27, 2025

Nova Davies is new to town, having just moved from London to to a small Cornish seaside village. She took it upon herself to start a book club at the local community center, but things aren’t going great so far. When money is stolen from the community center, one of the book club members is blamed.

It just kind of makes sense when he disappears and a dead body turns up on his property. Can the book club members settle their differences and use their bookish knowledge to help clear Michael’s name?

2. One Sharp Stitch by Allie Pleiter

March 25, 2025

Shelby Phillips has just come back to her hometown of Asheville, NC to run her mom’s needlepoint shop called Nimble Needle. It’s supposed to be a temporary gig while her parents are on vacation.

One of her responsibilities is to run a trunk show with local vendors. And one of those vendors just happens to be a former high school classmate named Kat Katsaros. This classmate has her eye on buying the Nimble Needle someday so when she turns up dead, things do not look good for Shelby.

It’s going to take a lot of investigating and a lot of help from her community to find out who really had it out for Kat.

3. A Death on Corfu by Emily Sullivan

Minnie Harper is a widow and single mother living on the Greek island of Corfu. Her children are growing up and getting older, and she’s realizing that it’s time for her life to change.

Mystery author Stephen Dorian comes to the island to write and Minnie is fascinated by him. But she soon realizes that he’s not her type, and does her best to avoid him. Until he offers her a job as his typist. When a young maid on the island is murdered, Minnie must take action and start investigating until the authorities can take over. Will she be able to secure justice for the young woman, and find out the truth?

4. Murder by Cheesecake by Rachel Ekstrom Courage

April 15, 2025

A Golden Girls cozy mystery? Count me in! In this cozy mystery novel Rose is planning a wedding for her cousin who is visiting from St. Olaf. She has to get things right because the groom’s family is very particular. Meanwhile, Dorothy tries to find a date for the wedding but he’s not quite everything she thought he would be. Luckily, her friends will be there as well.

When Dorothy’s date is found dead, face down in a cheesecake, it’s up to the fab 4 to solve the murder mystery and make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch.

5. The Spirit Moves by Carol J. Perry

May 27, 2025

It’s here! The latest book in the Haunted Haven series by Carol J. Perry. In the last book, Maureen had to solve the murder of a local fisherman. In this book, the local bookshop owner Aster Paterson finds the body of a local author in her garden. Aster claims that her late husband’s ghost led her to uncovering the body.

Maureen believes in ghosts. But not everyone in town feels the same way. Police officer Frank Hubbard knows that there must be a trick going on when the ghost of Aster’s husband is seen in the bookshop window. But Maureen knows that ghosts are real, and she knows that murderers are as well. It may be up to her again to find out the truth.

6. Vice and Virtue by Libby Klein

I’m really excited for this book because I love the Poppy McAllister series by Libby Klein. In fact, I’ve reviewed two of the books here and here.

Layla Virtue is a 30-something recovering alcoholic and former cop looking for a change of pace. She’s trying to reinvent herself as a musician, but she’s also pretty busy with AA meetings, dealing with her neighbors in the trailer park she lives in, as well as possibly reconnecting with her dad.

She’s performing at an eight year old’s birthday party when Chuckles the Clown is killed. And it’s up to Layla to find out who would kill a clown. And why?

7. No One Was Supposed to Die at this Wedding by Catherine Mack

May 13, 2025

If you haven’t read my review of the first book in this series, make sure to check it out!

Author Eleanor Dash is back, and this time she’s at a wedding. She’s attending her best friend Emma’s wedding. But get this. Emma is currently filming a movie version of When in Rome (Eleanor’s first book) and is marrying the male lead in the film, who is playing Connor smith (Eleanor’s ex). It’s just a bit complicated.

Emma and Fred invite all their friends to Catalina Island to attend their wedding. But when Emma receives a mysterious note about someone dying at her wedding, Eleanor must use her experience as a mystery author to save the day.

8. Murder Runs in the Family by Tamara Berry

April 29, 2025

Former PI-in-training Amber Winslow has decided it’s time for a change. She grabs her things in the dead of night and heads to her grandmother’s retirement community in Arizona. It’s not like she has anywhere else to go.

When an important member of the community is found dead on the night Amber arrives, Amber knows that things do not look good. But much to her surprise, the community doesn’t seem all that surprised. When her Grandma Jade is blamed, it’s up to Amber to start asking questions and find out who killed the Admiral.

9.The Library Game by Gigi Pandian

March 18, 2025

Tempest Raj works for their family business Secret Staircase Construction, which is known for constructing architectural features like sliding bookshelves and secret passageways. They’ve just taken on a dream project. They are to renovate a home into into a public library that celebrates history’s greatest fictional detectives. Sounds awesome, right?

Gray House Library’s new owner is very excited about the project. Before the work is technically complete, they decide to host a murder mystery dinner and literary themed escape room. But when someone turns up dead at the dress rehearsal, Tempest must use her knowledge of mysteries and of architecture to help figure out who did it.

10. A Killer Hold by Leah Dobrinska

December 3, 2024

I know this one comes out at the very end of 2024 but I had to add it to the list! lol I loved the first book in this series, so I’m definitely excited for this next installment.

It’s Spring now, and Greta Plank is busy with organizing all of the community events at the Larkspur Community library. The next big project on her plate is organizing the Wisconsin Library Organization’s annual conference. And she’ll also be helping a local treasure-hunting club coordinate a showcase highlighting Northern Wisconsin’s gangster trail and the nearby hideouts of the notorious criminals of the early twentieth century.

Did I mention she’s busy?

When she overhears a discussion about a new discovery and then one of the treasure hunters turns up dead, Greta knows that there’s more to the story. Greta must her her knowledge and skills as a librarian to help the police research and get to the killer before they can hurt anyone else.
